1. Bled Strategic Forum
The Bled Strategic Forum (BSF) is a project of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia. It is organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia in cooperation with Centre for European Perspective (CEP) and its partners. CEP is authorised to organise international events and other activities within the framework of Bled Strategic Forum offering innovative solutions to present and future challenges.
BSF acts as a platform for expressing and contrasting opinions on modern society and its future. Its purpose is to gather participants from various fields with diverse knowledge, and encourage them to exchange views and seek innovative solutions to present and future challenges. In addition, the BSF is also a unique opportunity for meetings and networking with regional and global stakeholders.
BSF hosts a number of events at various locations, mainly in Ljubljana and Bled, Slovenia. Our services are provided exclusively on the basis of the following General Terms and Conditions (GTCs). These apply to all legal relationships between the BSF and its participants, even if no explicit reference to them is made.
We reserve the right, at our discretion, to change, modify, add, or remove portions of this Terms and Conditions, at any time. Any such modification that materially affects your rights will not take effect until 30 days after notice of such change is posted on this website, during which time you may notify us that you do not accept such change.
Your continued use of the Bled Strategic Forum website following the 30-day period will be conclusively deemed as acceptance of the changes to this Privacy Statement. Further, you agree that such notice posted on this website constitutes reasonable and sufficient notice. At all times, you are bound by the then-current version of the Privacy Statement and all applicable laws.
The only way to register for events within the framework of BSF is online. In exceptional cases (and after prior confirmation with the BSF), registration via email is permissible. It is not possible to register in any other way, either in written, by telephone or in person.
For registration purposes we require the participants’ names and contact details (title, name, surname, job position, organisation, email, phone number, postal address of his or her organization, contact person, contact person’s email address, personal photo, CV) unless stated to the contrary. A participant’s online registration is binding. As soon as we have received and processed your registration you will receive an electronic confirmation. You are only entitled to participate in the BSF once you have been issued an electronic confirmation of registration.
Registrations are considered in the order in which they are received. The BSF reserves the right to set special admission criteria for certain events. There is no legal entitlement to participate in an event.
4. Conditions of Participation
If attendance at an event is subject to particular admission requirements, the BSF will provide a separate notice of these requirements, which the participants must fulfil. The right to attend an event is not transferable to a third party.
5. Side Events
BSF might be complemented by events organised in cooperation with our partners. Participation in these events is only possible by means of prior application or direct invitation from the BSF or our partners.
6. On-site Admission Requirements
After registering you will be provided with a badge on-site, which entails you access to the BSF venues. Please note that all events require a registration prior to the admission.
Participants are requested to take into account any applicable visa requirements for travelling to Republic of Slovenia. Visas can only be issued by Slovenian representative authorities or accredited representations abroad. The BSF is in no position to influence or aid the visa process. The organiser does not provide any travel insurance.
The BSF does not accept liability for loss of or damage to items brought by those attending events. We therefore ask you not to leave valuable items or important materials in the event rooms during breaks. Claims for damages against the event organizer are – insofar as is legally permissible – excluded unless we have acted with wilful intent or gross negligence. If so, the claimant must provide proof of this. Compensation for indirect damages and consequential damages, including lost profit, are excluded under any circumstances. Furthermore, insofar as is legally permissible, no liability is accepted for personal injuries sustained in the event areas, break rooms and corridor areas and in rooms adjacent to the event.
Despite careful checking of documents and other publications used during events, the BSF does not guarantee their accuracy, completeness or validity; nor does it accept liability for the accuracy of the views, standpoints, legal opinions etc. expressed by the speakers.
9. Copyright; photography, video and audio recordings
The event brochures, websites, newsletters and working documents used during our events are copyright and must not be duplicated or commercially used, including in excerpted form, without consent of the BSF or that of the relevant speaker. It is, without exception, prohibited to take photographs or make video or audio recordings of events or of persons during the events for purposes of commercial use unless you have explicit prior authorization.
Photographs of the conference which are offered for download may be used free of charge, provided that the name of the photographer is indicated. Audio versions and videos of the speeches offered for download on the website are free of charge. To ensure unbiased media coverage, the website of BSF features summaries of events. Texts can be downloaded and used free of charge, provided that the name of the author is indicated.
10. Data protection
10.1. Personal data
BSF only collects and stores personal data if it is supplied by you, for example on a contact form. Personal data is processed in accordance with applicable data protection legislation especially with EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and only to the extent required to enable us to reply to your query.
The participant accepts that the BSF will keep them informed via, newsletter, email or telephone about its products and services (e.g. mail-outs). The participant’s contact details (title, name, surname, position, organization, email, phone number, postal address of his or her organization, contact person, contact person’s email address, personal photo, CV) are stored and used for this purpose.
The personal details of the participants will not be passed on to third parties without your permission. However, to avoid people receiving multiple invitations to the same co-sponsored event, CEP reserves the right to share your first name, last name, employer and country with partner organizations for the purpose of de-duplicating the final invitation list.
The participant also accepts that photographs, film recordings, interviews etc. that are made in connection with participation in the event may be disseminated and published by the Bled Strategic Forum without leading to any entitlement to remuneration.
You can revoke your consent to the use and transfer of data at any time by contacting firstname.lastname@example.org or the controller email@example.com.
The criteria used to determine the period of storage of personal data is the respective statutory retention period. However, if the affected party wishes, and provided we are not prevented from doing so for legal reasons, the data may be deleted with immediate effect or be corrected at any time.
CEP uses secure data networks that are protected by firewall and password protection systems that are consistent with industry standards. CEP security and privacy policies are periodically reviewed and enhanced as necessary. Only authorized individuals have access to the information provided by CEP. CEP database is located in Republic of Slovenia.
Despite using this measures, we cannot guarantee the security of the information that you disclose to us. You accept the inherent risks of providing information and dealing on-line and will not hold us responsible for any breach of security unless this is due to our negligence or wilful default.
10.3. The use of BSF Website
Cookies are text files that are stored in a computer system via an Internet browser. Many cookies contain a so-called cookie ID. A cookie ID is a unique identifier of the cookie. It consists of a character string through which Internet pages and servers can be assigned to the specific Internet browser in which the cookie was stored.
The data subject may, at any time, prevent the setting of cookies through our website by means of a corresponding setting of the Internet browser used, and may thus permanently deny the setting of cookies. Furthermore, already set cookies may be deleted at any time via an Internet browser or other software programs. This is possible in all popular Internet browsers. If the data subject deactivates the setting of cookies in the Internet browser used, not all functions of our website may be entirely usable.
10.3.2. Google Analytics
The BSF website (www.bledstrategicforum.org) uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, Inc. (“Google”). The operator of the Google Analytics component is Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Pkwy, Mountain View, CA 94043-1351, United States.
Google Analytics uses “cookies,” text files placed on your computer, to help the website analyse how users use the site. The information generated by the cookie about your use of the website (including your IP address) is usually transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States.
Through our activation of the IP anonymization, however, Google will truncate the IP address for Member States of the European Union as well as for other parties to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases, the full IP address is sent to and shortened by Google servers in the USA.
On behalf of the website provider Google will use this information for the purpose of evaluating users’ use of the website, compiling reports on website activity for website operators and providing other services relating to website activity and internet usage to the website provider.
Furthermore you can prevent Google’s collection and use of data (including your IP address) by downloading and installing the browser plug-in available under www.tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=en-GB.
10.3.3. Log Files
Like most standard web site servers, BSF website uses log files. CEP collects and stores only the following information about you: the name of the domain from which you access the internet, the date and time you access the site, and the Internet address of the website from which you linked to the Bled Strategic Forum website. Bled Strategic Forum uses this information to measure the number of visitors to the different sections of the site, and to make the site more useful to visitors. Upon request, BSF is required by law to disclose this and other information records to you.
Throughout our web pages, we provide links to other servers and websites that may contain information of interest to our readers. We take no responsibility (and shall have no liability) for, and exercise no control over, the organizations, views, or accuracy of the information contained on other servers and/or sites.
On the BSF web site components of Twitter are integrated. Twitter is a multilingual, publicly accessible microblogging service on which users may publish and spread so-called ‘tweets,’ e.g. short messages. The operating company of Twitter is Twitter, Inc., 1355 Market Street, Suite 900, San Francisco, CA 94103, UNITED STATES.
With each call-up to one of the individual pages of the Bled Strategic Forum site on which a Twitter component (Twitter button) was integrated, the Internet browser on the information technology system of the data subject is automatically prompted to download a display of the corresponding Twitter component of Twitter. Further information about the Twitter buttons is available under www.about.twitter.com/de/resources/buttons. During the course of this technical procedure, Twitter gains knowledge of what specific sub-page of our website was visited by the data subject. The purpose of the integration of the Twitter component is a retransmission of the contents of this website to allow our users to introduce this web page to the digital world and increase our visitor numbers.
If the data subject is logged in at the same time on Twitter, Twitter detects with every call-up to our website by the data subject and for the entire duration of their stay on our Internet site which specific sub-page of our Internet page was visited by the data subject. This information is collected through the Twitter component and associated with the respective Twitter account of the data subject. If the data subject clicks on one of the Twitter buttons integrated on our website, then Twitter assigns this information to the personal Twitter user account of the data subject and stores the personal data.
Twitter receives information via the Twitter component that the data subject has visited our website, provided that the data subject is logged in on Twitter at the time of the call-up to our website. This occurs regardless of whether the person clicks on the Twitter component or not. If such a transmission of information to Twitter is not desirable for the data subject, then he or she may prevent this by logging off from their Twitter account before a call-up to our website is made.
The applicable data protection provisions of Twitter may be accessed under www.twitter.com/privacy?lang=en.
On the BSF website (www.bledstrategicforum.org) components of Facebook are integrated. YouTube is an internet video portal that enables video publishers to set video clips and other users free of charge, which also provides free viewing, review and commenting on them. The operating company of YouTube is YouTube, LLC, 901 Cherry Ave., San Bruno, CA 94066, UNITED STATES. The YouTube, LLC is a subsidiary of Google Inc.
With each call-up to one of the individual pages of this Internet site on which a YouTube component (YouTube video) was integrated, the Internet browser on the information technology system of the data subject is automatically prompted to download a display of the corresponding YouTube component. Further information about YouTube may be obtained under www.youtube.com/yt/about/en. During the course of this technical procedure, YouTube and Google gain knowledge of what specific sub-page of our website was visited by the data subject.
If the data subject is logged in on YouTube, YouTube recognizes with each call-up to a sub-page that contains a YouTube video, which specific sub-page of our Internet site was visited by the data subject. This information is collected by YouTube and Google and assigned to the respective YouTube account of the data subject.
YouTube and Google will receive information through the YouTube component that the data subject has visited our website, if the data subject at the time of the call to our website is logged in on YouTube; this occurs regardless of whether the person clicks on a YouTube video or not. If such a transmission of this information to YouTube and Google is not desirable for the data subject, the delivery may be prevented if the data subject logs off from their own YouTube account before a call-up to our website is made.
YouTube’s data protection provisions, available at www.google.com/intl/en/policies/privacy, provide information about the collection, processing and use of personal data by YouTube and Google.
